Teledyne LABS welcomes Samantha Chastain as an instrument support technician for its Tekmar brand of products and services. She will assist customers, work in the bench repair area and perform quality control on loaner units. Samantha previously was a liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry specialist at Ethos Laboratories, a high-complexity lab specializing in diagnostic testing. There, she maintained and ran 23 LC-MS stacks processing over 2,000 patient samples a day. She has a bachelor's degree in biology with a concentration in animal biology from the University of Cincinnati and a master's certificate in herpetology from the Amphibian Foundation.
“We're excited to have Samantha join the Tekmar team to assist customers with their technical needs," said her supervisor, field services support manager Carlos Orlandi. “Samantha's education, experience and proven work ethic make her a great fit at Tekmar, where customer service joins the production of high-quality products as a primary focus."
Samantha says she likes to keep busy, and her outside interests certainly prove the point. She is the volunteer social media coordinator with Arrowhead Reptile Rescue, where she assists in adoptions and intakes, and is one of ARR's registered wildlife rehabilitation specialists and educators. She also runs a small pet treat/enrichment kitchen from her house and sells her creations at local trade shows and festivals. The Ohio native's animal interests certainly aren't limited to reptiles. At home, she cares for over 60 animals, including four cats, three dogs, two goats, rabbits, lizards, snakes, turtles and even Matilda, a rescue Virginia Opossum.
“My professional goal is to ensure that our customers have all the tools needed in working order so they can achieve their own goals," Samantha said. “I am looking forward to helping people change the world."
